An interesting 18th Century George II period chest on stand in burr elm, the top with moulded cornice above three short and three long drawers with herringbone stringing to the drawer fronts, the base with four short and one long drawer similarly decorated above a beautifully shaped frieze and raised on straight grained elm cabriole legs with three toed pad feet. This chest on stand has an incredible "upright" feel, redolent of American highboys of the same period. England. C.1740
